Reading Extra Betting is free because operators reward us when a reader we refer opens an account. This page explains those payments in plain terms, so you can judge our recommendations knowing who pays the bills.
The essentials
Register with a sportsbook, casino or poker room after following one of our links, and that brand may send us a fee. You pay nothing for this: the operator funds it from its own pocket, never from your balance, and the promotion you are offered stays the same.
How a referral is recorded
Tracked buttons
Buttons such as “Bet now”, “Claim offer” and operator logos in our tables point to an address on extrabetting.net that starts with /go/. That redirect lets the operator attribute the visit to Extra Betting.
Promo codes
Some codes printed on our pages are issued to us by the operator’s affiliate programme. Entering one at registration can credit the sign-up to Extra Betting even without a click.
Links that earn nothing
References to regulators, iGaming Ontario, help lines, leagues, studies and news reports carry no payment of any kind. They are chosen only because they help explain the topic of the page.
The agreements behind the links
Flat fee per customer
A one-off payment once a new customer makes a qualifying first deposit and, with some operators, a first bet.
Share of net revenue
A percentage of the money the operator keeps from that customer, usually worked out monthly while the account stays active.
Mixed agreements
A reduced flat fee plus a modest revenue percentage. Which model applies depends on the operator and is negotiated through its affiliate programme.
What we never receive
We do not get a share of any individual bet you place, we are not told what you stake or win, and no operator pays us to steer a reader towards a specific market or wager. Payments are calculated by the operator’s affiliate system across all referred customers together, and the reports we receive contain totals rather than names.
Where payments could pull us, and how we resist
Revenue share and losing bettors
Under a revenue share we earn more when referred customers lose more. That is an uncomfortable fact, and it is why our pages repeat the case for limits and never present betting as a way to make money.
Order of lists
Whether a deal exists, and its terms, can affect which operators appear in a list and where. It does not decide the score: settlement record, clarity of promotion rules, payment options, mobile app quality and licensing status all weigh in, and operators without any deal are reviewed too.
Things money cannot buy
No operator gets to read a review before it goes live, have criticism taken out, pick the odds we quote or move the date we checked an offer. Any directly paid placement would be labelled as such where it appears.
Links inside previews and news
Event previews, promo code round-ups and some news stories contain tracked links next to the operator being discussed. The editorial text around them is written first; the link is added afterwards and does not change the verdict.
If an operator lets readers down
Commercial ties do not protect an operator that delays payouts, rewrites promotion terms unfairly or ignores complaints. We lower its rating, add a warning or remove it from our lists, and we do so even when it means losing the income from that agreement.
Going direct is always possible
Our links are optional. Typing an operator’s address yourself, or searching for it, leads to the same site and the same public offers; we simply will not be credited. Comparing what we say with the operator’s own terms page is always a good idea.
When agreements change
Affiliate terms are renegotiated, programmes close and brands merge. When that happens our links may stop earning or start earning without the page changing. This disclosure applies to every operator link on the site regardless of its current status.
Ontario and offshore brands
We hold agreements both with operators registered in Ontario and with offshore brands. Every list marks which is which, whatever the commercial terms, because that difference affects your protection more than any bonus.
Cookies involved in a referral
Across the site, mz_vid keeps an anonymous number for 365 days and mz_src logs the entry route of the visit, expiring after 30. A click on a /go/ link places mozbiz_session and XSRF-TOKEN as well, each lasting around 20 hours, and forwards that anonymous number to the operator so the new account can be matched to us. The cookie list has the details.
Age and responsibility
Referral links are meant solely for readers aged 19 or older (18 or older in Alberta, Manitoba and Quebec). If betting stops feeling like entertainment, ConnexOntario (1-866-531-2600) offers free help at any hour.
Ask us
Is a particular operator paying us? Ask at [email protected] and we will say yes or no. Extra Betting is published by Tambuline Media Group N.V., Dr. M.J. Hugenholtzweg 25, Willemstad, Curaçao.
